About Moon Ray Quartet

Moon Ray Quartet was founded in New York City in 2023 by saxophonist Craig McGorry, guitarist Pieter Voorhees, bassist Ross Davis, and drummer Sam Raim. In a style of music that is often centered on individual performers with sidemen to fill out the group, Moon Ray Quartet has focused on being a band, a group that rehearses and plays together regularly. This has led them to develop a cohesive and intuitive sound together. Often performing as a quartet, they also sometimes expand to a quintet, sextet, or septet with the addition of other horns (trumpet, trombone, and/or additional saxophones).

Moon Ray Quartet performs many styles within the genre of Jazz, such as Blues, Hard Bop, Funk, Bebop, Bossa Nova, and Swing. Their repertoire ranges from standards of the classic American songbook to compositions by artists like Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Bill Evans, Steve Swallow, and Sam Rivers.

Moon Ray is available for concert performances, corporate events, weddings, cocktail hours, festivals, and more. To inquire about booking, contact Craig McGorry at craigmcgorrymusic@gmail.com.
